Thanks to John Paul; I think I found something to rally around
Here's the legal speak about this sort of thing.
From the DL Website.
This issue was sparked by many recent hits on our sites from local lawmakers and enforcers. Below is the actual law on “Racing on Highway,” but while we agree with most of it, how are the following even classed in the same realm as racing??
First point: This sounds like a plain-ole Time, Speed, Distance Rally; sanctioned by car clubs nationwide, and regularly practiced throughout Texas: Check it out here
(B) one or more vehicles over a common selected
course, from the same place to the same place, for the purpose of
comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the
vehicle or vehicles in a specified distance or time.
Second point: This is an example of any truck (tractor trailer rig) driver traveling through the state:
(2) “Race” means the use of one or more vehicles in an
attempt to:
(C) test the physical stamina or endurance of an
operator over a long-distance driving route.
What exactly constitutes long-distance?
Third point: Don’t cops do this all the time when pulling you over, or trying to get to the scene on time? (amongst many other things):
(2) “Race” means the use of one or more vehicles in an
attempt to:
(B) arrive at a given destination ahead of
another vehicle or vehicles; or…
Here is the Law, look in Section 545.240:
§ 545.420. RACING ON HIGHWAY
After thoroughly examining the Dustball Rally Rules, Regulations, Term, and Conditions, we have found to be within full compliance of Texas State law (specifically the law on Racing on Highway), not requiring anyone to travel in excess speed on any public highway.
Sounds like we are allowed to pretty much do…well, a gimmick rally!!!
GO DUSTBALL!!!
